Permalinks are the URL of your post or pages that you have created in your WordPress. A good permalink of a page or post of your website is easy to understand, share and also help you in SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
There are many structures of permalinks like Day and Name, Month and Name, Default and Custom structure.
When you are publishing your post, WordPress will automatically set default URL for your post which will look like this: https://yourdomain.com/?d=548. You can change this URL structure in the permalinks setting of your WordPress.
You can change the permalinks structure by following the below mentioned steps:
Step 1) Login to your WordPress dashboard.
Step 2) One the life side of the page, under the Settings click on “Permalinks” as shown in the screenshot.
Step 3) Now you will be redirected to a page where you see the below options to change the structure of URL:
Default – https://yourdomain.com/?d=548
Day and Name – https://yourdomain.com/2011/04/05/sample-post/
Month and Name – https://yourdomain.com/2011/04/sample-post/
Numeric – https://yourdomain.com/archives/123
Custom Structure – This option allow you to set a custom structure for URL like https://yourdomain.com/post-name
Step 4) After selecting your desired permalinks format you need to click “Save Changes” as shown in the screenshot.
Now the URL structure of your website’s post or pages has been changed successfully. You can check your website by opening it on your device’s browser after clearing cookies and caches of your browser.
