How to manage DNS records using the advanced zone editor in cPanel


A website use different type of DNS records to manage/work different services. Every time you use a service the server find the locations for that service using these DNS records.

For example when you are using mailing service from your domain, the server searches the DNS records related to mailing service. DNS records are available in many types like A records, CNAMEs or TXT records that are using for different purposes.

You can manage all these records in “Zone Editor” in your cPanel. Zone Editor allows you to mange DNS records. You can enter new records or also you can change the default records here.

Follow the below mentioned steps to know how to manage DNS records in “one Editor” in cPanel.

Step1: Login to your cPanel.
Step2: Click on “Zone Editor” under Domains section.

Step3: If you are hosting multiple domains under your hosting plan then you need to click on “Manage” button next to the domain name.

Step4: now you will see + Add Record button which will display some fields. You need to enter the records as follow:
Name: In this field you need to enter the Name of your record. This record ends with your domain name automatically.
TTL: It means Time To Live. On servers all the records are available for a fixed time which has been set in TTL. The time is set in seconds. You need to enter 14400 time in TTL. This is the best time for all the records.
Type: Here you need to select the type of the record from the Drop Down menu.
Address: In this field you need to enter the server address where you want to point your DNS name. All the server addresses are different for each DNS records.

Step5: After filling all the fields click on “Save Record” button.

Now you will see a message “The system successfully added the record”. Your DNS records has been entered successfully.
